Woodson itself, and the home was constructed using eucalyptus, oak, and redwood harvested directly from the property, alongside rock, flagstone, adobe, and brick. The adobe bricks of the second story were handmade on-site from local clay, and the original roof tiles are believed to have been salvaged from the historic San Gabriel Mission.

No chalk lines were ever used during construction, resulting in no perfect corners, and intentionally uneven floors and rooflines that give the castle an irreplaceable sense of character and soul that simply cannot be replicated.
