May The 4th: A Star Wars Wedding At Sierra La Verne

May The 4th: A Star Wars Wedding At Sierra La Verne

Step into a galaxy far, far away, where the stars aligned in an extraordinary celebration of love. Join us as we explore Angela and Cesar’s fun and classy Star Wars-themed wedding at Sierra La Verne! Angela shared how the pair incorporated their personal touch to their big day:

We did a Star Wars themed wedding! Our big day had decor and memorabilia throughout the wedding. The wedding party had lightsabers, we designed the seating chart to look like the start of the Star Wars movies, and we had a dessert bar with Star Wars memorabilia on the table. Our hashtag, Rise of Ortiz, fit perfectly! It was enough to entertain the theme but still kept it somewhat traditional for the wedding feel.

Angela and Cesar clearly put tons of thought and effort into crafting a wedding that reflects their style and journey as a couple. They had a helpful tip when it comes to sourcing vendors:

Make your life easier and go with the vendors the Sierra La Verne team recommends! We looked around and realized how amazing the vendors are, most importantly RELIABLE and how affordable they are as well! We went with John W. Photography, JC Entertainment, Joining Hearts, and the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Claremont for a room block. Every vendor was easy to work with, especially with our busy schedules! Make sure they are a good fit with you; if they are not for you entertain the other vendors on the list to see if they are a better fit. I typically go off of the energy vendors give me when working with them and I was not disappointed once! Our group of vendors were amazing!! I could go on and on about the great services and experiences my husband and I had with all of them.

The couple opted for a first look, which allowed them to capture gorgeous photos around the grounds at Sierra La Verne. The gorgeous willow tree, which was the backdrop of their first look, is one of Angela’s favorite features about the venue, in addition to so much more:

The willow tree is an amazing spot to take photos! The Sierra room was my favorite as it looked over the lawn area and has an amazing chandelier with drapery that is already part of the venue. But honestly, the absolute BEST feature they offer is the team that makes your big day possible! They made our vision come true! The team works so cohesively and remembers the details down to the smallest detail the bride and groom want to incorporate in their day! The team truly made the day go by so smoothly and I am very grateful for them all! I could list so much more but the unique feature that I want to highlight is the affordable venue, vendors and the team helping every step of the way to help the couple plan accordingly without missing a beat!

After their first look and exchanging private vows, it was time to get these two married. However, their stunning outdoor wedding almost got rained out! Angela shared:

The funniest plot twist was definitely the rain that came the day of the wedding! I was not aware that rain is good luck until the day of when EVERYONE was saying it as it poured. Rain was in the forecast; I did not think it was going to downpour in May, but it sure did! I had let go of having our beautiful outdoor ceremony to adapt to the weather and have the ceremony inside. The Sierra La Verne team was AMAZING while working with my loved ones who were setting up for the ceremony. At the absolute last minute, the rain stopped and the venue worked alongside my family members to set up the outdoor decor. I was blown away with how the team adapted so well and pulled off the beautiful outdoor ceremony that I was hoping for!

Following the ceremony, the celebration carried on with cocktail hour. To keep their guests entertained while they were busy taking photos, the couple provided delicious appetizers: a rainbow vegetable platter with pesto hummus and a variety of domestic and imported cheese with wafers. Before the reception kicked off, Angela and Cesar took a few minutes to enjoy how their vision came together:

I snuck off with one of the team members to see the setup of the reception! I was so happy to have 5 minutes privately to see the final product! It was such a magical moment! I felt like a little kid!

After cocktail hour, guests enjoyed the grand hall for the reception. For the couple’s tablescapes, they paired upgraded black linens and burgundy napkins. They also added twinkle lights and greenery to the house centerpieces for a unique touch.

For dinner, guests enjoyed the buffet featuring the oven roasted salmon with tarragon butter sauce, carved roast beef au jus with creamed horseradish, and garlic mashed potatoes.

After dinner, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived - dessert! The couple cut into a two-tiered cutting cake for the two of them, complete with a custom-made bobblehead. Guests enjoyed a dessert spread featuring bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes, cookies, and pastries from the world-famous Portos Bakery. A few Star-Wars accents completed the look.

The night continued with an abundance of dancing, creating an energetic atmosphere that kept everyone on their feet. In fact, Angela shared:

If we could relive one part of our wedding day, it would be the open dancing! Our family and friends love to get down and our DJ nailed the songs that engaged the crowd to dance their butts off!

When they weren't getting down on the dance floor, guests raved about Sierra La Verne:

They LOVED the outdoor ceremony area, as did I, and how beautiful the venue was! They also ALL stated how amazing the food was! The food was delicious!

Congratulations, Angela and Cesar! We are incredibly grateful for allowing us to make your wedding day a reality. They offered a final piece of advice for all the other couples preparing for their special day:

Try to enjoy the little moments while planning. The stress can easily get to a couple, don't get so stressed out! Sierra La Verne has your back! If you need help, give the team a call, text or email. Truly try to enjoy the moment because before you know it the day is over and all you have are the memories.
