Say hello to Katie and Josh who tied the knot at the Carlsbad Windmill in February 2021! This joyful couple's wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and we loved every part of their big day, alongside their beaming family and friends.
Josh proposed on the beach in San Diego and the couple was immediately off and running. Within days they had shortlisted venues, contacted our team, and arranged a location tour. Everyone sets their own pace, but Katie and Josh were extra quick off the mark. They contacted us at the end of October, considered two SoCal venues and one in NorCal, then booked the stunning and glamorous Carlsbad Windmill ready for their big day, less than four months later!
Selecting the Classic package tier, the couple created an elegant theme with a custom ivory color scheme enhanced with a duo of tablescapes: scattered fresh foliage fronds matched with trios of candles, and decadent tall stands with fresh white florals.
The wedding party wore gorgeous shades of dusky rose, russet, and henna to complement Katie's lace embroidered gown. Josh and his crew chose tailored dark suits with skinny ties and classic white shirts for a modern look that beautifully augmented the event theme.
While the bride and groom made their final preparations in their separate get-ready suites - Josh gaming with his friends and Katie connecting with her besties - guests mingled in the large courtyard before entering the oversized ceremony area, where the event theme was reinforced with decadent white drapes and blond wood paneling. Katie and Josh shared a first look and prayer on the windmill’s secluded observatory deck. The unplugged ceremony was officiated by Pastor Steve Wright who led the beautiful proceedings. Forever Tomorrow Events provided the ceremony music and, later, encouraged a happy crowd on the dancefloor.
Food is important at every wedding and this one served up fresh cut vegetables with pesto and hummus, followed by a delicious duet entree plate for all guests. Heartwarming speeches were given by Josh and his father Tony. Katie and Josh chose a Nothing Bundt Cakes wedding cake with ivory icing and Bundtinis for guests to enjoy later. The event was rounded out with a lavish ice cream sundae bar and dancing!
The happy couple had a full and exciting day and even made time to hit the beach for one-of-a-kind wedding portraits that capture the sunshine and blue skies that are a signature of Carlsbad-by-the-Sea!
Thanks to Katie, Josh, and all their vendors for creating this wonderful day. It’s always a pleasure to witness love and happiness at the Carlsbad Windmill.
