Enjoy these awesome wedding tips from the pros about the things no one mentions when you're knee-deep in planning your wedding! We’ve listed the best advice from our very own wedding planning experts to help prepare you for this fun, exciting, and ever-so-eventful chapter of your life.

1. Budget up to 15% of your budget on photography

You should spend about 15 percent of your budget on photography. Meet the photographers in person before booking them. You will spend lots of time with them on your big day, they literally follow you around. You want someone who will understand your vision of your wedding. Give them a shot list of photo opps you want to capture. Discuss in advance.

2. Be firm on your decisions

Your color theme can change a million times! But once you find the one you like, stick with it!
–Bri, Wedding Expert Team

3. Prioritize your health

Things can get overwhelming, really fast! Be sure to prioritize your health during this process.
– Kim, Client Services Agent

4. Start your seating chart early

Start your seating chart even before you start getting RSVP’s. This is the thing people put off the longest, but it’s what takes the most time. And don’t try and please everyone, they should be spending more time dancing than sitting!

5. Have an emergency kit

A good tip is to make an emergency kit for day-of with bobby pins, safety pins, bad aids, breath mints, lip gloss, ibuprofen, etc.
– Christina, Client Services Agent

6. Have an emergency kit

Ideas will come to you at the most random times of day! Keep a planner around at all times to write them down! Fear of forgetting the idea/plan adds unnecessary stress!
– Alex, Client Services Agent

7. Create two guest lists

If you have a high guest count, it really helps to make two separate guest lists. An ‘A’ list and a ‘B’ list will help keep the guest count down.
– Denise, Customer Care Team

8. Choose your venue first

Pick your venue first, then pick your date. You want to make sure you are in LOVE with your venue and that the price is right! Setting your date before everything else will limit your options.
– Charisse, Client Success Leader

9. Create a separate wedding email address

Your email inbox will be inundated with all things wedding really fast! Set up a separate wedding email right away!
– Alex, Wedding Planner

10. Pick a theme

Pick a theme and go for it! Incorporate your theme in as many ways as possible. Adding the personal touches to your centerpieces, invitations, and décor can change the whole wedding. The more the merrier!
– Meg, Event Coordinator

11. Let your parents bring friends

Your parents will want to invite their work friends. Let them. They bring good gifts!
– Carrie, Wedgewood Weddings' Happiness Expert

12. Make your own traditions

Wedding traditions don’t have to be done the way you’ve always seen them. Make your big day your own!
– Emily, Wedding Planner

13. Don't be afraid to accept help

Allow your bridal party to help you, that’s what they’re there for!
– Bri, Senior Wedding Planner

14. Create interactive experiences

Give your guests something fun and interactive to do at your reception like a photo booth, s’mores table, cigar rolling station or lawn games!
– Christina, Wedding Planner

15. plan engagement date nights!

Make time for you. Getting engaged is fun so make the most of it. While wedding planning can feel all-encompassing it doesn't need to be. Lean on your team and your friends. And give yourself a date-night once a week so you always have each other's happiness in your hearts.
– Sarah, Client Ambassador
