Love in Arizona Sun: Kelli & James' Fall Wedding at Lindsay Grove

Written by Alexandria Marlar | Jan 11, 2023 4:03:00 PM

Arizona is home to some of the most gorgeous fall days. With comfortable temperatures, beautiful sunsets, and lush greenery, it's easy to see why this time of year is famous for Arizona weddings. Kelli and James's late October celebration included all these fantastic features when they married at Lindsay Grove by Wedgewood Weddings.

Kelli and James prepared for their big day with their bridesmaids and groomsmen offsite. After Kelli's hair and makeup were ready, she made her way to Lindsay Grove. Kelli and her bridesmaids found a bottle of champagne and drinks from the team in their get-ready room. Before dressing for her big day, Kelli and her entourage took a moment to relax and take in the big day ahead.

Shortly after her arrival, James and his groomsmen made their way to the property, and they were similarly greeted with champagne and beer to enjoy before the ceremony in their get-ready room. After taking a moment to relax, James and his crew made their way to the back lawn for photos while Kelli and her team prepared for pictures on the gorgeous wrap-around porch.

Kelli and James chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first time that day. With the spread of the property, the couple's photographers from Wynsum + Marrow Photography were able to keep Kelli and James from seeing one another while also capturing some amazing moments.

Kelli looked gorgeous in her empire-waisted wedding dress. The bodice was covered in lace with scalloped trim and long sleeves, a flowing floor-length skirt, and a dazzling belt to tie the whole look together. Her bridesmaids wore burnt orange, floor-length dresses in different styles that made them look amazing. The bridal party was ready to make its way to the aisle with bouquets consisting of cream-colored and orange roses, eucalyptus, baby's breath, and various greenery.

James and his groomsmen sported dark navy suits with blue vests, orange ties, and navy blue sneakers. This sharp look beautifully complimented the bridal party and made for a gorgeous contrast against the background of their ceremony site.

When the ceremony finally kicked off, guests enjoyed clear blue skies and fantastic fall weather. On the Waterfall Lawn, the gorgeous foliage provides shade for guests facing the setting sun and a breathtaking cascading stone waterfall. Kelli made her way down the aisle with her father by her side. After sharing heartfelt vows with James and saying 'I do,' the newlyweds danced down the aisle and took a moment to take it all in before heading around the property for portraits.

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed the picturesque brick patio, where lawn games, drinks, and appetizers waited for them. They decorated the stately fireplace with a sheer gold mantle scarf and pictures of loved ones who were gone but not forgotten. On the lawn, Kelli's father created custom cornhole boards that also doubled as a guestbook before the ceremony, and the couple brought a giant Jenga. Under the lush orange tree by the pavilion, a circle arch with florals served as a photo backdrop.

The outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour space combined with the indoor reception space was a big draw for the couple when deciding on what wedding venue would entertain their guests best.

We loved the flow of the space; we were able to do the outdoor ceremony and then have everyone on the same property for the indoor reception. That just made it so easy to manage and that way, people could go back outside to play lawn games or chat if they wanted to.

With space enough for lawn games, socializing, photos, and cocktails, appetizers were a delicious compliment to an already great happy hour. Guests enjoyed a lofty selection of appetizers that included:

  • Balsamic & Strawberry Crostinis
  • Hummus Duo - Red Pepper & Cilantro Lime with Pita Chips
  • Pork Belly BLT Crostinis
  • Roma Tomato & Fresh Basil Bruschetta
  • Mac & Cheese Panko Croquettes
  • Mini Crab Cakes with Spicy Remoulade

These delicious options are just some hors d'oeuvres available as a part of our Premier Package. After indulging in this enjoyable happy hour, guests entered the grand hall for James and Kelli's entrance.

The newlyweds danced their way into the reception, beers in hand, ready for a night of fun and celebration with their friends and family. Tables were decorated with white linens, navy blue napkins, gold charger plates, and an ornate gold cloth in the center with a vase of flowers. These flowers consisted of various greenery, eucalyptus, baby's breath, and cream-colored roses. Kelli and James's sweetheart table featured an elaborate floral arrangement of orange and white roses, white hydrangeas, eucalyptus, and various greenery.

Kelli and James enjoyed a heartwarming first dance before partaking in dinner service. Their two-entrée dinner buffet included:

  • Carved Roast Beef Au Jus with Creamed Horseradish
  • Oven-Roasted Salmon with Tarragon Butter Sauce
  • Panko Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Sherry Cream
  • Three Cheese Scalloped Potatoes
  • Seasonal Vegetables
  • Fresh Baked Bread & Butter
  • Eight Assorted Salads
  • Seasonal Vegetables
  • Potatoes or Rice

After dinner, they enjoyed a personalized lemon cake paired with cupcakes in chocolate peanut butter, lemon, churro, vanilla almond, and pink champagne to go along with all of these delicious choices. Kelli and James said they skipped their cake-cutting because they were having so much fun on the dance floor.

We didn't want to interrupt the fun with the cake-cutting, so we let people wander up and grab their dessert on their own.

The night continued with more dancing and a fun shoe game before the reception ended. Their guests banded together for a grand sparkler exit in front of Lindsay Grove; with the romantic glow of the sparklers around them, James and Kelli had one last kiss before heading off to their happily ever after.

Congratulations, Kelli and James! Thank you so much for letting us bring your wedding day to life and sharing your experience. Kelli shared one last review about her wedding day with us:

I truly don't even know where to start! When my husband and I first walked into Lindsay Grove, it took our breath away! Every single moment there was nothing short of exceptional, and every single person on the staff and team at Lindsay Grove is beyond exceptional and communicative as well!

The staff was accommodating, helpful, and SO sweet and answered every question we possibly could have had in a QUICK manner! As soon as I left Lindsay Grove that day, I immediately knew that I wanted to get married there. I felt at home.
They even helped us choose our photographers (Wynsum Marrow), who we are BEYOND thankful for! The entire planning process was easy, smooth, and the staff was very knowledgeable and helped me plan for this big event of 130+ people!

The day of the wedding... I have tears thinking about it!! IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!! Truly, the whole day was beyond perfect and more than anything I could've ever imagined, and it is all thanks to the team at Lindsay Grove. They completely took my vision and made it come to life! The lighting, AMAZING food (talk about a ton of options, too!), sparklers, and the get-ready suites also made our experience enjoyable and perfect!! From Amanda, our day-of coordinator, to Tim, the bartender, BStarr the DJ, and everyone who helped out on our big day - we cannot thank you ENOUGH, EVER!!!

We are SO thankful that we found Lindsay Grove and are happy that we also made lifelong friends from our big day! We will be talking about this day for the rest of our lives.
