Kalie + Greg at Eagle Ridge

Kalie and Greg created an intimate outdoor wedding in Gilroy, California. We’re so in love with the chic and timeless neutral tones. They said their I Do’s last July, and we wanted to celebrate their 1-year anniversary with you. Congratulations to the beautiful couple, and we wish you both a very happy anniversary!

Q: What location did you pick to have your wedding and why did you choose this place

“Our wedding was at Eagle Ridge by Wedgewood Weddings in Gilroy. We absolutely love the hills around San Jose, and this location provided such beautiful views of them! We wanted to have our ceremony outside near the hills, but I really wanted an indoor reception. Of course, Eagle Ridge had both! We also knew we were going to have a very small wedding, and Eagle Ridge was the perfect size for our number of guests… However, I think the final deciding factor was the winding wisteria that covered the front of the building. Even without flowers for our July wedding, it was absolutely gorgeous and added such a romantic feel.”

Q: Did you have a particular theme or color scheme? Is there a story behind this color theme and why you chose it?

“I originally wanted no colors for our wedding, actually! My dress was almost a pink shade, so I thought I wanted everything else to be white with a lot of greenery. When I stumbled upon Azazie’s dusk color, though, I just loved it! It was the perfect muted tone to blend with our otherwise natural colored wedding… Although we did not have a theme, I did focus on the words natural and timeless when making all decor decisions. We didn’t want to do anything too trendy, as my husband and I both have a very classic and simple style.”

Q: What was the most memorable part of your day?

“Although first looks have become increasingly popular, my husband and I decided against doing one. I am so glad we did! The best moment of the entire day was definitely when I first saw Greg as I walked down the aisle. I thought I was going to be so nervous. I was excited, of course, but I also had this calmness of knowing that I was making the best decision of my life.”

Q: How did you coordinate the theme for your wedding party?

“It was important to me to allow my bridesmaids to express their own style. Of course, I still wanted to have some cohesiveness in the group! Azazie allowed me to pick one color (thanks to the amazing swatches), but then I left the style of the dress up to each bridesmaid.”

Q: Any tips or advice for anyone getting married soon?

“The best tip I can give is to not let wedding planning consume your relationship. My husband and I had weekly “meetings” of wedding planning. Usually, we would wrap up the meeting with tasks to complete throughout the week. So, although we spent a decent amount of time planning our wedding, we made sure that our relationship didn’t suddenly revolve around this one day! Although a wedding is a huge deal, we wanted to be sure to focus on our relationship so that our marriage could start out just as great as our wedding day would be!

As far as wedding day advice, there is a ton out there. I think my personal favorite was just to remind yourself to be present. Every once in a while, on your wedding day, you should really look around and remind yourself that this is your wedding day… It helps to slow it down a little and allows you to really soak in those most precious moments.”

Q: Did you enjoy the wedding planning process?

“I did! I am a big planner, though, so it felt like maybe I was made for this type of thing!”

Q: Describe your wedding in one word.

“Intimate.”
